Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
I want to make a worksheet that i can post on-line. Basically a picture, with a speech bubble that people can type their own words into and with the click of a button a fixed copy goes to the comments or can be printed, emailed, etc (though it would'nt have to be able to do all of these things - just going to the comments on a blog would be enough)

Is this like, wishful thinking, or something that sounds within the realms of possibility? I'm going for the former, but i know there are allot of people on my friends list who know an awful lot more about computers and the net than i do!

EDIT:

Here's a super-rough idea of what it'd look like on screen....

If wordpress can do commenting then this is possible. I could probably do something in a few weeks when I'll be free, though I'd have to look at the html code first.

I'm pretty sure the commenting thing is ok - the wordpress i have set up seems basicaly the same as LJ.

Is it a case of it'd have to be done with html? Does that essentialy mean that if i wanted to make new ones it'd all have to be re-coded every time? Basically to make a long story short im trying to set up a sort of daily blog/ site that i can upload homework for my english students - they complete the task (ie. put words into a comic strip i've drawn up), the finished result goes to the comments for me/ all to admire. If that makes sense. I guess the important things is the flexability for me to upload new things, and for students to input themselves.
The logistics baffle me - it's actually quite amazing home much time it takes me to figure out basic things with the net. Haha, stick with what your good at, i guess (opening another beer)!

I'm not sure tbh. I'll certainly have a look when I have some spare time, but I'm moving in two weeks.
I have an idea as to how it could be done. You'd have the picture and the comment boxes to write the text in, then when it's viewed the comments would be formatted so that the text would appear in the right places on the picture.

That sort of makes allot of sense. Well, at least i now think it might be possible - as apposed to yesterday when i was sure it wasn't! If you ever had time and fancied playing with the idea, i'd be eternally grateful and of course include all the appropriate credit/ links etc on my page =D

I've had an idea that might be easier. This is just a test, it's a pdf with text fields that can be filled in. You could make pdf files, have them fill it in and email it to you, you could then export it as a jpg and host it somewhere.

Ah man, I totally only just came across this now. For some reason I've not been getting my comments through to hotmail - this morning i got a whole batch through at once!

Seems good. How do you fill in the text, though? I'm guessing I'd be able to just set everything up, provide a download link then let them get on with it ~

You just click in the bubble or the box and type. You open up adobe acrobat and create a PDF from the image. Then click the 'Forms' button and 'add or edit fields'. You'll need to give them unique names or they'll all end up with the same text.

And yeah, once it's all done you can just give out a download link.

It's totally possible. Take a look at this for a proof of concept...

Ahh, that's fairly close to the idea i have in my head. The only difference being that you have to place the text yourself. Something like that involves some pretty complicated coding I'm guessing? What do you think the chances of a ready-made being available somewhere in the web is?

Well there is a link to email the guy if you want a customised installation on your site... (but this requires that you have a site somewhere you can host things).

Actually, looking at the source for that page, it seems to be javascript. Which means the code is available there - you can grab it and modify it (or get someone with javascript knowledge to do it for you)...
